THE MAGAZINE is my first magazine design.
For the final in my first drawing class, I had this idea to intertwine my creative writing and creative direction skills within the drawing prompt of creating a collection of work. I chose to not only act as a Creative Director for a Magazine, I imagined myself also as a Sustainable Fashion Magazine Writer/Editor, a Fashion Illustrator, and a Fashion Designer to complete the project fully.

The title of this sustainable magazine: “THE” (an arcanum for The Human Echo) and the tagline of Echo: "Any repetition or close imitation of the ideas or opinions of another;" were inspired by Andy Warhol’s attitude of mocking being an an artist. I learned he flipped a lot of the narrative about being an artist on its head and I was really fascinated and inspired with this idea and mindset. So I took one of my own "challenges" and irritations of being copied and flipped it into a playful creative project.
THE Magazine features a collection of work where I “echo” other fashion illustrators as well as a tank top designer who created "the Shoulder Mod Top" design. I created a one page spread with editorial content describing the importance of sustainability within the fashion world and a dozen ideas for Magazine cover "photographs" (I used ink and bamboo pen to illustrate/draw the ideas, and charcoal for the enlarged "chosen" cover design.)
Throughout the process, I played with the different roles I was stepping into to choose the cover design image. I pretended to pitch the dozen cover "photographs" to the Creative Director (also me) who then chose the final design.
